Because we believe children learn most effectively through play, Learning Tree Preschool makes sure to offer opportunities for educational play all throughout the day. We know children “learn by doing”; therefore, there are plenty of opportunities to do so.

Although daily activities will vary somewhat from time to time, each classroom does follow a planned schedule. Each day’s activities include group time, learning centers, outdoor play, healthy snack and meal times, and rest times.

Learning Tree Preschool combines teacher-led and child-directed learning experiences. During group time, each teacher introduces quality works of literature. The teacher then uses Abeka curriculum to present other age-appropriate learning activities. These activities include recognizing and writing letters, forming numbers and counting objects, and learning colors and basic shapes. All classes focus on the same works of literature each week.

The students learn through self-directed, student-led play. They enjoy centers within the room such as the reading corner and the math and science manipulatives section. They also learn home skills in the kitchen area and develop hand-eye-coordination and thinking skills through puzzles and table games. Children especially enjoy pretending and learning construction skills with the selection of building blocks. Of course, art and music supplies are available for every day enjoyment for each child.

The outdoor playground provides the opportunity for children to exercise, play, and learn. The equipment includes foot-powered cars for motor skills. Balls, parachutes, jump ropes, etc. are available for active play. Children will also enjoy playhouses for dramatic play, as well as outdoor chalk centers for creative play and development of hand-eye coordination skills.

Learning Tree Preschool LLC offers a healthy breakfast snack, lunch, and mid-afternoon and late-afternoon snacks each day. The center follows the state department of health’s guidelines in preparing the menu, and the menu is available for parents to view at all times. It is the parent’s responsibility to make the center aware of any allergies that will affect the meals and snacks a child can eat. The center will teach healthy choices including nutritious food choices, quality dental care, effective hand washing procedures, etc.

During afternoon rest period, the children nap or quietly read a book or play with a puzzle.

Learning Tree offers our older preschoolers opportunities to use a computer to prepare them for the technological world in which we live.

Learning Tree Preschool offers art and music opportunities daily. The children love these creative classes!
